You Were Born for This Time!

Did you know that life is just not all about you? I know that’s a pretty blunt way to open an article but stay with me. I promise it gets better.

Yes, God loves you and wants to bless you. That is the heart of the gospel. Your time on planet earth is very important to the overall plan of God being fulfilled. Your love for Jesus Christ and your faith to obey Him in this life, no matter how many times you’ve blown it or missed it, is designed to have eternal implications. You are alive on the earth right now to be a part of God’s strategy to reach the world.

Let me explain. I know a pastor in the Seattle, Washington area whose church got a lot of people saved off the streets. After these people received Jesus they would get water baptized. The pastor said, “Sometimes I would be baptizing these new believers and I would know something about their past, some of the tough things they had been through and how much they needed to change. I knew many of them would have a hard time and a lot to learn. Sometimes when I put them under the water, I was tempted just to leave them under and send them straight to heaven so they wouldn’t have to deal with all their issues.”

Of course he was kidding, but think about it. God in His wisdom could have done it that way. After you received Christ He could have just vaporized you to heaven immediately. But He didn’t. Why? Because we are for a great eternal purpose. We’re here to perpetuate life and be representatives for Jesus Christ to the people we encounter as we walk out our life of faith.

Jesus told us to pray this way, “Your kingdom come, your will be done, ON EARTH as it is in heaven. We are going to heaven someday. Your life of faith is supposed to bring heaven to the earth as you live out your time here.

Let’s look at a scripture that points to this truth. Ecclesiastes 3:11 – He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.

When the verse says “no one can find out the work of God from the beginning to the end” it is talking about the timeline from Genesis 1 to the end when Jesus returns. But God has put “eternity in their hearts.” On the great timeline of earth, we all have a small piece of eternity. It is like a blip on the screen. But it is the time God chose for us to be here.

You could have been born during the days of Abraham, or the days of Moses. But God wanted you and me to be here now. We are living out the times of the greatest technological advancements in human history. From the time of Adam until about 100 years ago the best mode of travel was the back of a horse. But since those days we now have cars and airplanes.

God has designed for you to be alive here and now, for this time. Listen, God put things in you, gifts and ideas, talents and a way of thinking, so that you can be a blessing for this generation of people. I want to encourage you today. I know you have issues and challenges that come against you; against your kids and your marriage. But you were born for this time! You have eternity in your heart. As you partner with God you can’t be beat. 1John 4:4…”the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit that lives in the world.”

When you realize these truths it empowers you to face your challenges. He promises to make “everything beautiful in His time.” The Holy Spirit is at work with you today to work everything out for good. He wants to bless you so that you can be a blessing. Believe it! Act on it. It’s your time. Thank you partners. We love you all and thanks for your support as we walk out our assignment for this time.
