THIS WEEK’S PROJECT

Honoring

Love always costs something.

When we place value on something, we pay its worth through honor. It’s like if we own something that was extremely expensive, we would treat it differently than something we picked up at the dollar store. We would prize it, keep it safe and handle it with the upmost care because it’s precious.

What’s the opposite or valuable?

Ordinary. We don’t care as much about everyday items in our home because we haven’t esteemed it as special.

Honoring your spouse draws out each other’s value, uncovering the rich gifts God placed in them, but treating them as ordinary will produce an ordinary marriage.

When you begin to feel like you’ve lost sight of the priceless value of your spouse and moving into ordinary, remember what the Word says about honoring:

Romans 12:10 (NIV) Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.

Action

Have an honest and open conversation. Ask each other these questions:

  • What is God speaking to you about honor related to your spouse?
  • Take time to list a few ways you can honor them this week and share it with them!
