THIS WEEK’S PROJECT

Family Builders

Malachi 4:5 (NKJV) Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet Before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD.

Malachi 4:6 (NKJV) And he will turn The hearts of the fathers to the children, And the hearts of the children to their fathers, Lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.”

This scripture is prophetic about John the Baptist. His ministry was in the spirit of Elijah the great prophet. He was the forerunner to prepare people. He came to say, “Get ready get ready. Things are about to change. God (Jesus) is about to come on the scene and we need to prepare ourselves to receive Him.”

That was His first appearance. We could say, as the scripture says, it was a “great day.” But I believe this is also talking about His second coming. For many, it will be a “dreadful” day. Jesus came the first time as the lamb of God to redeem us by the cross of grace. The second time He will come as the king! He is coming to judge and make things right. He is coming soon. He is coming again!

Action

If we really believe He is coming soon, we will prepare. First of all we need to prepare ourselves. It is no time to monkey around.  It is a time to be sober about living for Jesus. It is a time to be serious and deal with sin in your life. Ok. But what if He’s not coming back soon and I’m wrong? We still need to be serious about serving God and being an example and witness for Jesus to the world around us. If you are a Christian, that’s what you’re called to do.

1 John 3:3 (NLT) And all who have this eager expectation will keep themselves pure, just as he is pure.

If it’s next week, or 1,000 more years until Jesus return, we need to be ready.
