We all want to be heard and we believe our opinion is important.

One of the keys to open, honest communication is not just being heard, but listening to your spouse. Listening is more than just hearing with your ears. It is listening with your heart. In Matthew 11:15, Jesus said, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”

Research has discovered that in a conversation most people listen for about 15 seconds before they check out mentally and begin to think of a rebuttal to what the other person is saying.

Many marriage problems could be solved if we will just work on this simple principle in our conversations. Learn to listen.

Take the opportunity this week to intentionally listen to your spouse without interrupting. Learn to listen.

We are dedicated to teaching the Word of God to build up families in these troubled days in which we live. For more info on resources that will transform, be sure to check out the tools available in the Family Resources section of our website.
