God’s Plan for YOU Isn’t Over!
No matter what challenges you may be facing as you read this today, I want you to know this: God has a plan for you. Even though you may be facing some daunting circumstances, even though you might feel like you messed things up so bad even Jesus can’t help you fix it; God’s plan for success for you is not over.
Check yourself right now and see if you are still breathing. If you are, God’s plan for you has not expired!
There are 3 big words I want you to get in mind when we are talking about the plan of God. Those words are purpose, mission, and vision. You need to understand the place each one of these words hold if you are going to walk in God’s individual plan for you, your marriage and family.
Purpose. When God created people in the beginning, He declares our general purpose: Genesis 1:27 (NLT) So God created human beings in His own image. In the image of God He created them; male and female He created them.
28 Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over”…
I’ll stop right there for space sake, but God is telling us here the general purpose for every person. We were created in God’s image. What does that mean? Do we look like God? Maybe, but greater than that is the fact that we were created to operate like God. That doesn’t mean we are God, but with the DNA of Jesus Christ living in us (you must be born again to have His DNA), we have been given the ability to be blessed and fulfill God’s command to rule and reign in this life. Through Him we can overcome all the negative things that have and will come against us to get us off the plan God has for us. That is some very good news.
Mission. This gets more specific. Every person God created has been given individual gifts to fulfill a personal mission for your time on the earth. Marriages are made up of 2 who think very differently, but that come together in covenant for a mission as they serve God together. There are going to be challenges as we walk through the chapters of life on the earth. It is important to discover your gifts and talents and learn how they work together in your marriage to fulfill your mission.
Vision. If you’re driving and unable to see what is up the road, you are headed for a collision. You have to be able to see what’s ahead. Vision is all about following the Holy Spirit and walking out the mission that God has for your marriage that He shows you. Mission is not accomplished without vision.
The Holy Spirit is the great “Helper” who wants to show you the future…”He will show you things to come…John 16:13.” The Holy Spirit can’t help you the way He desires unless you give Him some time. I don’t know what Trudi and I would have done in all of our years of marriage without the help and guidance of the Holy Spirit through the good and bad times of life.
I want to encourage you as a couple to dedicate some time together to pray and allow the Holy Spirit to show you some things. If life has gotten stale in some area of marriage, the Holy Spirit can breathe new purpose back in. But you have to humble yourself to pray and listen to what He says to you. Do it. Pray together as a couple and listen…God has some new ideas for you.
Thank you for your partnership and may these words help direct you to your mission.
