1 Peter 3:7 (NKJV) Husbands, likewise, dwell with [them] with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel…

Husbands are called to lead in giving honor in the marriage. Notice it calls the wife here the weaker vessel. This is not just talking about physical weakness, although for the most part the husband is physically stronger than the wife. A better word for weaker is sensitive.

God created women with a sensitivity that men just don’t have. For instance, women are more sensitive to the children and the things they may be dealing with that are not as obvious to the man.

Husband, take some time with your wife to talk about your children and ask her if there are things she may be observing that you may not be aware of. If you don’t have children yet, discuss something else that may be of a concern to her. End your conversation by praying about what you discussed.
