THIS WEEK’S PROJECT

Marriage

Ecclesiastes 4:12…And a 3 fold cord is not quickly broken.

Marriage is designed to be the building block that makes the world turn. God created the world and the first thing he established was marriage. God created the man first and established him before he gave him his wife. God taught the man 4 things about how to lead his marriage that we will deal with in the next 4 lessons.

#1 He taught the man to work.

Genesis 2:15 (NLT) The LORD God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it. Adam was given an assignment. It was to work in the garden. Man is supposed to be the provider of the family. This is not to say women can’t work. This may look different for different sets of circumstances. But the man is supposed to lead when it comes to the responsibility of family provision. This is God’s way.

Action

Although scripture teaches the man is to lead, financial decisions should be made as a team, with both the husband and wife operating in partnership. In our family my wife handles the details when it comes to stewardship and bookkeeping, while we discuss together the direction and decisions we make.

How about you? Have an open discussion about your finances. Are there things frustrating in your administration of finances? Do you tithe and honor God in money matters? Are there things you would like to reassess? Talk about it honestly and ask God for wisdom. He wants to bless you.
