THIS WEEK’S PROJECT

Marriage

Marriage is designed to be lived out with the Holy Spirit being present and allowing Him to play a big part. I’m convinced we don’t allow the Holy Spirit to help us like he wants to. Understand this. He is a gentleman. He won’t force himself on us. He has to be invited.

Ephesians 4:30 (NKJV) And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

To grieve here actually means we make him feel sorrowful, or we make him sad. When he becomes sad he retreats. He wants to help you in the details of your marriage concerning your finances, raising your kids, and every decision you make, but he won’t force himself in. We need to purposely and deliberately invite him in. We need to ask.

Action

What are the things we’re dealing with that are taking our time and energy? Are we inviting the Holy Spirit in? Are we asking Him to help us? If not, what can we agree on together that we would like the Holy Spirit to advise us on? After deciding, pray and give him permission to help you. Then take time to listen to what He says. If you’ll just believe He will, He will help you. He’s the helper.
